The Message Board Minute

A quick look at what's happenin' elsewhere in the Cyber Smack World.

The MBM staff has been keeping a close eye on a few "developing situations" on the college football message boards, and one of the most interesting is the total meltdown occurring at the Tarpit. The Tarheel story is one of losing - losing Mack Brown, losing recruits, losing respect, losing to Houston, etc. One thing they have not lost is their sense of humor, as evidenced by this attempt to make lemonade by Commishbob.

Another "developing situation" has been taking place in the department stores and courtrooms of Tallahassee. The MBM staff admires the ability of the FSU fans to explain away an embarrassment to their university, coach, Heisman candidate, and themselves with such fervor and "conviction". Shoplifters of the world, unite!

No doubt by now many of you have had a chance to visit the Syracuse football forum for some insightful dialog and warm Northern hospitality. The always classy 'Cuse fans have been incredibly gracious in defeat, and have impressed everyone with their thoughtful, heartfelt congratulations on our current and future success. Three cheers for those eloquently endearing Orangemen and their topnotch fan forum!

Seriously, the Syracuse situation is not one to be laughed at, at least not out loud. Upon watching the bloodbath on Saturday night in Blacksburg, the Minuteman was heard to comment that the shellacking might be just enough to cause the 'Cuse to quit the game. While it remains to be seen if the head honcho will be correct, the first signs of "giveup" have sprouted among the fans - check out the recruiting advice being dished out to targets by one disgruntled fan.

Elsewhere in the Big East, the Canes WBB2K(tm) ("We're Back Baby 2000") campaign is starting to steamroll, with help from this push by CanesForever

If (almost) everybody comes back, Najeh recovers to near 100%, KK continues to improve, and everyone stays healthy...........We SHOULD win it all. Again, fsu and VT come to our house next year. Syracuse should be the only tough road game. I would expect greatness from next year.

At the Rutgers board a fan actually took time from his busy schedule of demanding Terry Shea's head to dwell on what for those guys must be a huge positive - "At least we handled VT better than Cuse did". The MBM staff must admit that we thought the same thing.

Our last stop on the Big East boards is at the train wreck known as the West Virginia forum. Two things caught our eye this week - The ultimate fairweather WVU fan and some smack from a Temple fan. *Shudder*. You know it's pretty bad when the Temple fans come a' taunting.
