Message Board Minute #4
By the MBM Staff, 11/4/99

In our last installment of the MBM we looked at the "developing situation" at The Tarpit. Well, since then things have really spun out of control. First, our good friend Doc Ryan wondered why UNC didn't hire Beamer last time around, when it was obvious that Frank would have "jumped at the chance". Media idiots like GoHeels.com's Art Chansky took it one step further with the suggestion that Frank is actually a leading candidate this go around. The Heel posters are now of course thinking that the luring of Beamer away from his #3 ranked alma mater to a program in shambles is possible. Our guess is that once you've seen your team get waxed by 1-aa Furman, you start to think that anything is possible.

Another developing situation that bears watching this week is the GT-UVA game. You'll recall that last year the fine UVA scholar athletes taunted the crowd repeatedly and even assaulted a GT fan after the game, with no acknowledgement or apology from UVA officials. Of course the irony in this is that the UVA fans were up in arms this week about FSU's lack of punishment for Peter Warrick and his subsequent taunting of Scott Stadium patrons. GT fans are not going to let this one go.

On a lighter note, did you know that Temple still has a shot at the Big East title? Pardon the MBM staff for not focusing on WVU, but the Owl board is a hoot!

Another Big East board that we love is the Rutgers board. The presence of a bunch of cretins like the RU1000 group will always make for lively and lowly discussion. You can be sure that the RU1000 will be a recurring subject here at the MBM in the future.

There was a brilliant, sassy, and hilarious outbreak on the Cane board by some guy named Mr. Fantastic. All of the MBM staff agreed that we had seen similar posts from someone on that board before, but we just couldn't place the name.

Finally, our obligatory trip to LeSabre starts with the following words of wisdom from UVAFAN 3. We agree wholeheartedly with everything he said right there.

And since we felt this week was, well, kinda slow, we decided to bring back the enormously popular "in your face" segment, where we highlight a few of the LeSabre posters' predictions of the Tech-UVA game. This week it's TN-HOO, hoofan, Texas Hoo, and wahoobill in the spotlight. Thanks for the material, folks!
