Last Weekend on the HCMB Episode 3: Zips Zipped by Hokies by Huntsville Hokie, 9/8/00 "Last Weekend on the HCMB" is intended to be a semi-comprehensive, pseudo-humorous overview of the weekend activities on the HokieCentral Message Board. Any misrepresentations or inaccurate quotations were made so as to make the readers of this column laugh uproariously. Anyone taking offense to this article should be advised not to leave oneself so open next time. Whew! These extended weekends (Sunday games and Monday holidays) are going to kill me faster than the chest cold I picked up this weekend. 26 pages, y’all sure were busy this weekend! Anyways, due to the meltdown over the BCA decision and the game, there will be three sections to LWHCMB: the usual commentary, a BCA post recap, and a game notes section. So, on with the show.

Section I: The Usual Suspects
H.W.O. has a great job, where the director lets him leave by 1pm on game weekend. The rest of the Hokie Nation declares the rest of the work day null and void, and follow like lemmings. No word on traffic difficulties due to the wave of traffic approaching Blacksburg. I think Will is tired of double posts, so he (and GFallsFan) provide helpful hints on how not to do it. HokieTrader reports that Virginia Tech is up 2 to #28 on the USN&WR Top Public Universities. I wonder how high we have to go before we’re "public ivy"? JWRHokie wonders about the status of the jumbotron after the storm last week. I think it’s listed as day-to-day, but then again, aren’t we all? Okay, we’ve got 3 ‘reporters’ reporting the cancellation of the BCA game at a Roanoke Hokie Club outing, except the search function reports it’s their first posts. FLAMERS! Oh, yeah, the search function is broke. Never mind. LD Hokie says it seems like we’re starting out 0-3. Please, God, no! Are the days numbered for Rut(s)gers in the BE? Do the link. (By the way, I’m sure those of you that were on the HCMB this weekend are noticing the lack of BCA commentary so far. Keep reading, I’ve got a special section for that.) JWRHokie gives us a forecast for Saturday, and it ain’t pretty. HokieTT tries to get the conversation "focus"ed on the right place: RamblinRed (GT) wants the schools to have a future series. FM TX Hokie is scared of Buffalo. ‘73Pirate talks some smack. Now, why did you have to go and do that? We just might have to whoop your [buttocks] on national TV for that! Oh, and thanks, VPI97 for turning the topic back to the BCA. Could the ‘Canes board be melting down too? HoakieBS reports that the Canes board ain’t too happy about their win over powerhouse McNeese St. Oh, and astrohokie, don’t go there on the 400 yards allowed. (Ain’t 20/20 hindsight fun?) A new day, and thanks to VTHokieTom, all the other issues are brought back up, instead of "focus"ing on GameDay. VT MNC Hopeful gives him a little advice, and VTChaz tells him what to expect from following that advice. [Side note: cool site, VTChaz. How’d you do that cursor text? I could sit there for hours making sine waves out of that (and did for about five minutes—I guess we physicists are easily amused by sine waves…). Much, much less on BCA. Either (a) fewer people on board due to noon start, or (b) people just realized that, "tomorrow, is a new day!" (Sorry Scarlett, had to do it.) Great point made by DGHOKIE. Alright, I know I said I’d have a separate section for BCA stuff, but this post by Happy Dog on Saturday morning says it all, after the meltdown on Friday… A nice Hokie poem by JKHokie, but what do you say it to?
