Game Story

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- Quarterback Al Clark ran for two touchdowns and threw a scoring pass and Shayne Graham connected on three field goals as Virginia Tech humiliated Clemson, 37-0.

Clark completed just 6-of-25 passes, but totaled 159 yards for Virginia Tech (2-0), which defeated the Tigers (0-1) for just the second time in the last 14 meetings. Hokies coach Frank Beamer had been winless in three games against Clemson.

Graham was good from 25 yards late in the first quarter before hitting a career-long 53-yarder on the last play of the first half to give the Hokies a 34-0 lead. His 20-yarder midway through the third completed the scoring.

Clemson was shut out for the first time since the 1996 season opener, a 45-0 loss to North Carolina.
