The following depth chart shows the number of snaps taken per game by each player on Tech's offensive line during the 2000 football season. The snaps include OL play only, not special teams play. The numbers don't always add up to an equal number of snaps at each position, which I cannot explain (the numbers come from hokiesports.comthenewspaper, and I can't be held accountable for their accuracy).

Players are grouped by position, and starters are listed in gray:
LT = left tackle; LG = left guard; C = center; RG = right guard; RT = right tackle

Season-ending notes: as we could tell all season, LT Anthony Davis and C Jake Grove were the favored second-teamers. They were the only two backups to get over 25% of the snaps, with Grove getting over a third of the snaps at his position. Davis will start at LT next year, but the center battle between DeMasi and Grove will be one of the more interesting ones in the Spring of 2001. Will Grove be elevated to starter, or will DeMasi hold his position? Will either one of them be moved to another position?

Meanwhile, Luke Owens and Matt Wincek seem primed to take over RG and RT, respectively. The one wide-open position is LG, where seniors Lehr and Marchant got 97% of the snaps, and third-teamer Anthony Nelson barely played. Will Nelson be moved up to starter in Spring of 2001, or will DeMasi or Grove be moved over to start? Or will a new face, perhaps from this year's crop of redshirts, be given the starting role? These are the things to watch for in Spring 2001.
