Yes, it's time for the 4th annual HokieCentral.com tailgate!  Each year, HokieCentral.com likes to throw a big catered bash that lets everyone get together and put faces with the names.

This page tells you everything you need to know about this year's tailgate: where it is, what time it is, and how you can pitch in to support it. Please note that HC's parent company is not paying for the tailgate this year, so I'm footing the bill personally, and I would really appreciate your help paying for the tailgate.

Tailgate Details

Date, Time and Location:  As noted above, the tailgate is from noon to 3:00 on Saturday, October 28, in Lot 4 (click here for a map showing the location). If you turn off of 460 and come down Southgate drive, you'll pass the outdoor track on your left, and the next thing you see will be the HC tailgate.  Look for a white tent with the "www.HokieCentral.com" banner hanging on it.

You do not have to be a registered message board user, a former HokieCentral member, or anything like that. Anyone is welcome, and the tailgate is free (although we'll need help paying for it, and if you want to pitch in, directions follow).

Food: just like the last two years, the tailgate will be catered by Terrifics/Catering Unlimited. There will be enough food for about 200 people, and the menu will include barbeque, ham biscuits, fried chicken, and potato salad. There will also be some sort of dessert item, although I have not figured that out yet -- probably cupcakes, since they're portable and don't require plates and silverware to eat.

Drinks: HC will provide canned drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite). If you wish to drink something else, please bring it. HC will also provide 200 cups and ice. In order to make sure you get a cup, you may want to bring your own. If you choose to drink alcoholic beverages, you must bring your own, and HC will not be responsible for any problems caused by consumption of alcohol at the tailgate.

Other Stuff: HC will also provide plates, forks, and rolls for the barbeque, as well as VT football schedule napkins. If I am able to find them, I'll also purchase name tags and bring them, so you can stick your name/posting name on your chest.

How to Pitch In $$

It costs well over $1,000 to cater a tailgate of this size, so we'll need your help paying for it. You can do this one of two ways (directions on how to do each come later):

  • Mail a check to HC
  • Donate cash at the actual tailgate

1.) Mail a check to HC: just make out your check to HokieCentral.com and mail it to:

Will Stewart
c/o HokieCentral.com
P.O. Box 3472
Radford, VA 24143-3472

2.) Donate cash at the actual tailgate: cash is great and works in all situations. Just stop by the tailgate, find me, and hand me some dead presidents. This will give you the chance to view my happy, smiling face as I thank you profusely.

That's about all I can think of! See you Saturday!
