Orange Bowl Info

Here's some info forwarded to me by reader Mark Benzie. Mark wasn't sure how valid the info was, and he didn't tell me his source, but here it comes anyway (gee, my checking of sources is pretty slack, huh? So sue me):

  • Hokie Headquarters - Marina Marriott, Ft. Lauderdale
  • Team Hotel - Eden Rock, South Beach (????)
  • The Hokies will be the Visiting Team (since they are likely to be the #6 pick)
  • Seat locations for tickets bought through Virginia Tech are section Sec. 101-112, 401-412, and some 200s and 300s in the same area (go to the Orange Bowl web site link above to see a Pro Player Stadium seating chart). Unless you're at least a Bronze Hokie, you're in the End Zone!
  • For tickets through Orange Bowl or Ticketmaster, the following are sold out...Secs.101-122, 201-223, 301-323, 401-417.
  • Some tickets remain in secs. 418 and 419, if you want to be surrounded by Gators, that is. Best bet for good seats on the Tech side may be to buy them outside the game.

If anybody can verify any part of Mark's info, email me and let me know. I haven't had time to poke around, email Bill Roth, or tap into any official sources like that.

By the way, is it just me, or do the rest of you still feel like calling the stadium "Joe Robbie Stadium"? Forgive me if I do that from here on out.

One more thing from Mark: here's a listing of Gator Sites from Yahoo. Bookmark it and surf a little bit.

Clarification from yesterday: Druckenmiller was indeed first team all Big East, actually co-first team with some guy you may have heard of named McNabb.

The basketball team pounded ETSU 83-41 in a layup drill at Cassell Coliseum Thursday night. No surprise there - ETSU returned just one starter from a team that went 7-20 last year.
