Baseball Team Eliminated by Seton Hall The Hokie baseball team knocked Notre Dame out of the Big East Tournament, going 2-0 against the Fighting Irish, but the Hokies couldn't deal with the Seton Hall Pirates. Seton Hall downed Tech 5-2 in the championship game to knock the Hokies out. After starting the tournament with a 4-3 victory over top-seeded and third-ranked Notre Dame, the Hokies fell to third-seeded Seton Hall 5-0, knocking Tech down into the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament. Tech met up with Notre Dame again and beat them again, 5-2, eliminating the Irish. The win made Tech 4-0 this season against Notre Dame (46-11-1). This advanced the Hokies to the championship, where they lost to Seton Hall 5-2. It would have taken two straight Hokie victories to win the championship. Tech finishes the season 29-28-1.
