Vince Beamer Sets Second Official Visit
One of the top defensive prospects in the Northeast, Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, PA)
safety Vince Beamer is a hot commodity in the recruiting ranks.
With Bishop McDevitt’s season coming to a premature end by losing the final regular season game to Lower Dauphin and
thus eliminating them from the playoff picture, Beamer has now turned his attention to the recruiting process.
Currently, he has set two official visits from his list of five favorites.
“I am going to Boston College on January 17,” said the 6-2, 185 pound Beamer, who has already set an official visit
to West Virginia on December 13. “My top five is West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Virginia, and
Missing from Beamer’s list is Virginia Tech, who seems to have fallen off a bit. Although the Hokies still keep in
touch with the Pennsylvania standout, they aren’t recruiting him as hard as the other schools near the top of his
Recruiting Beamer for the Cavaliers is offensive line coach Ron Prince. Prince has visited Beamer’s high school on
several occasions, and the two speak often.
“Coach [Prince] has been to my school and calls me frequently,” said Beamer. “Coach Prince tells me the truth, and
tells me why they are recruiting me and why they are recruiting the people they are recruiting.
“Virginia’s definitely at the top of my list [with the other schools].”
Beamer has been offered by all of his favorites, and knows which factors will help him make his final decision come
February. He will wait until signing day to make a decision.
“Basically, I want to go somewhere with a good atmosphere with good coaches and players,” said Beamer. “I also am
looking for good facilities as well.”
A top player for a school that boasts NC State commitment and All-American quarterback Marcus Stone, Beamer excelled at
wide receiver and defensive back this season. He is being recruited by all of his favorites as a safety.
Beamer considers himself a safety who loves to hit, but he can also defend pass coverage extremely well. Earlier in the
season, he almost single-handedly shut down All-American tight end Jonathan Stupar, leading McDevitt to a 24-7 victory
over Stupar’s State College team.
Vince will take an unofficial trip to Pittsburgh this weekend for the West Virginia game, and hopes to set up official
visits to the rest of his favorites in December.
