QB Patrick Dosh Commits to Tech

As expected, Benedictine HS (Richmond, VA) quarterback Patrick Dosh committed to the Hokies in a 1 pm press conference this afternoon. A four-year starter, Dosh completed 465 of 889 passes (52.3%) for 8,648 yards and 74 touchdowns. He is ranked the #19 player in the state of Virginia by Doug Doughty of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and the #20 pro-style quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com. Dosh chose the Hokies over North Carolina.

"There were three reasons that I selected Tech," Dosh told us shortly after his press conference. "The first was the people -- Coach Beamer and his staff, and the way Coach Cavanaugh recruited me. He's the best recruiter I had throughout the whole process. He makes you feel like you're wanted so much.

"The second reason was the fans. When I was at the Miami game and they blocked that punt, that was an incredible experience for me. And at the Syracuse game, when they were losing at half time, we went into the bath room, and it was dead silent. The fans were like, 'Oh my God, what's going on here?' Even at a bad time, they made a good impression on me. You can tell, the fans care so much.

"The third was seeing their Hall of Fame room and the spot they have reserved for the national championship trophy. I thought 'Wow.' I didn't see anything like that at UNC. That was a big eye-opener."

Dosh is Tech's first verbal at the quarterback position for the 2002 recruiting class, and he is Tech's 11th verbal overall (Montavis Pitts is no longer being counted as a Tech verbal by TSL).
