Nick Marshman Verbals to Virginia Tech by Chris Horne The Hokies have received their fourth verbal commitment in the last three days, with 6-5, 248-pound Nick Marshman from Turner Ashby High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia telling the VT coaches that he will be Virginia Tech-bound. "Yes, he has verbally committed to Virginia Tech," Turner Ashby coach Joe Taylor told us this afternoon. "He really thought this out for awhile. He was ready to make his decision." Marshman, who plays tight end and defensive line for Turner Ashby, projects as an offensive lineman in college, most likely at the tackle position. He is rated the #14 recruit in the state in both TechSideline.com's Top 40 and SuperPrep. Doug Doughty of the Roanoke Times ranks him #26 in the state. Rivals.com ranks Marshman as a two-star recruit (out of five) and as the #27 recruit in the state. Marshman committed to Virginia Tech over WVU (his only other offer to date), UNC, UVa, and Maryland. "He and his parents felt he fit in socially, academically, and athletically," Taylor said. "Those three factors were the difference. It was just the best fit for him." Marshman is Tech's ninth commitment for the 2003 recruiting class. For the complete list of VT verbals, click here. -- Chris Horne |
