LB Demetrius Taylor Commits to VT

by Will Stewart, TechSideline.com

Virginia Tech picked up their second verbal commitment in three days when Kellam High School (Virginia Beach, VA) linebacker Demetrius Taylor gave his verbal to VT. Taylor is the third commitment in the Hokies' 2005 recruiting class, joining TE/OL Ed Wang and RB Kenneth Jefferson.

Taylor, a 6-1, 220 pound linebacker prospect who runs a 4.5 in the 40, chose the Hokies over offers from Duke and Kent and serious interest from Notre Dame, Maryland, and Syracuse among others.

"I committed to Virginia Tech," Taylor said. "I decided about a week ago. I chose Virginia Tech because they were the first one to offer. They saw something in me that's taken the other schools a long time to figure out."

Taylor is a good student who will have no trouble qualifying. For more on Taylor's reasons for committing, his family ties to Virginia Tech, and his impressive choice of major in college, see our TSL Pass recruiting update.
