Hokies Pick up Another OL Commitment by Will Stewart, TechSideline.com Hokie Fans: This TSLMail marks the return of TSLMail Breaking News! TSLMail Breaking News is issued when a recruit commits or another important event occurs in VT athletics. Virginia Tech landed another offensive line commitment for its 2005 recruiting class when 6-7, 300-pound Eric Davis of West Springfield High School (Springfield, VA) gave the VT coaches his verbal following his official visit this weekend. “I actually committed on Saturday,” Davis told TSL recruiting analyst Chris Horne. Davis is a late bloomer who flew under the radar and impressed the Tech coaching staff with his senior year performance, earning an official VT offer last month. He also received interest from Army, James Madison, Marshall and, recently, overtures from the University of Virginia. Davis felt very comfortable on his official visit this weekend. “Seeing how the players interact off the field, it’s just like I’m joining another family,” Davis said. Davis is Tech's 19th verbal commitment for the 2005 recruiting class, comprised of 16 high school players, one prep school player (William Wall), and two 2004 signees who are prepping this season (Brandon Holland and Sam Wheeler).
