Hokies Pick Up TE Branden Barden Out of Georgia

Virginia Tech defensive backs coach Torrian Gray pulled in his second recruit in as many days when Georgia tight end Branden Barden committed to the Hokies. Barden is a 6-5, 211-lb. prospect from Lincoln County High School in Lincolnton, Georgia.

Barden is an athletic player who ran a 4.57 at the Athens Nike Camp on April 29, 2006. He was the fastest tight end prospect at the camp. He is also an excellent student who maintains a GPA of close to 4.0.

Barden is ranked the #37 player in the state of Georgia by Rivals.com. However that ranking is somewhat skewed by the fact that he plays quarterback in high school, but is projected as a tight end at the college level.
