St. Francis (Mountain View, CA) tight end recruit Rhett Ellison and Hermitage (Richmond, VA) athlete Alonzo Tweedy have committed to Virginia Tech. Along with OL Khalil Latif, who announced earlier today that he would attend VT, that gives the Hokies three verbals in the space of two hours. Ellison is the 19th player to commit to the Hokies in the 2007 recruiting class, and Tweedy is the 20th. Ellison's father Riki Ellison, a former player in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Raiders, confirmed Rhett's commitment. "He has committed to Virginia Tech," Riki Ellison told TechSideline.com this afternoon. Ellison is a tight end for St. Francis and made 26 catches for 301 yards last season as a junior. He scored five touchdowns as well en route to earning second team all-league and all-area honorable mention honors for his performance. Tweedy, at 6-2, 180, projects as a rover or whip linebacker for the Hokies, depending upon how he fills out. "He just committed to Tech this afternoon," Hermitage head coach Patrick Kane said. "He went up for the spring game. I think he went up for another visit earlier as well. He just really liked it. Plus, he has some former teammates up there. The staff was really excited about him, and the school is close to home." For more on Tweedy and Ellison, stay tuned to TechSideline.com's recruiting updates. Click
