DJ Thomas Commits to the Hokies -- for 2008

Virginia Tech received a verbal commitment from Patrick Henry High School athlete D.J. Thomas on Tuesday afternoon. Thomas is rated the #14 player in the state of Virginia by TechSideline.com. He chose the Hokies over the University of Tennessee.

Thomas, who is listed at 5-9, 170, is being recruited as a cornerback by Virginia Tech. However, he will not enroll until 2008. He will have to enroll at either Fork Union Military Academy or Hargrave Military Academy to get his grades up before he can qualify for Tech.

Thomas was recently timed at a 4.38 in the 40. There is a possibility that he could play another position for the Hokies, rather than cornerback.

"They are saying defensive back, but the running backs coach told me he'd like to try me at running back," Thomas said.
