Virginia Tech signed 23 high school football standouts to a Letter of Intent on Wednesday. These players join two other members of the 2007 recruiting class, Brandon Barden and Josh Oglesby, who enrolled at Virginia Tech in January. The class is headlined by offensive talents in QB Tyrod Taylor, RB Darren Evans, and a slew of offensive linemen and tight ends. The Hokies even grabbed a trio of receivers in Patrick Terry, Danny Coale, and Kendrick Pressley. Defensively, Tech reloaded with four linebacker candidates in Hunter Ovens, Barquell Rivers, Alonzo Tweedy, and Quillie Odom. Tech also added three defensive linemen and a pair of highly-rated defensive backs in CB Cris Hill and S Davon Morgan. Almost all of the players expected to sign with the Hokies sent in their letters, but as usual, there was one surprise on Signing Day. Tight end Rhett Ellison out of California decommitted from the Hokies late last night and signed with Southern California, instead. For more information on the class, including a list of signees, please see our News and Notes update. In addition, stay tuned to upcoming TSL Pass articles, as we comment on the class and break it down in detail.
