Play the Pete Dye River Course for a Chance at TSL Prizes!

TechSideline.com is partnering with the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech to offer TSL readers a chance at winning a free one-year TSL Pass subscription and great Virginia Tech merchandise. The prize package is valued at approximately $100.

To participate, just play the Pete Dye River Course this month. Report your score to the PDRC staff, and the lowest "TSL score" of the month wins one year of TSL Pass and a great piece of Virginia Tech merchandise.

This month's VT merchandise is either a Virginia Tech polo shirt or a Virginia Tech windshirt (your choice).

Here are the details:

  • Set up a tee time at PDRC. (Click here for greens fees.) You can do this online at RiverCourseGolf.com (ten days in advance only).
  • Play the course.
  • Report your score, name, and email address to PDRC staff (Keith or John if available), and tell them to include you in the TechSideline.com competition.
  • We'll let you know if you won at the end of the month.
  • In the case of a two-way tie, prize packages will be awarded to each winner. In the case of a three-way-or-more tie, the tie will be broken down to two winners via a random chance method to be determined later (roll of the dice, coin flip, etc.).

LB Lyndell Gibson Commits to Virginia Tech
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

Salem (Virginia Beach, VA) High School linebacker Lyndell Gibson became Virginia Tech's eighth commitment of the class of 2008 when he verballed to the Hokie coaching staff on Wednesday. Gibson attended Virginia Tech's camp over the weekend, and it solidified his belief that he wanted to be a Hokie.

"I was thinking about committing [at the camp]," Gibson said. "I was wondering if I should do it. I just took a few days to think it over. I decided to go ahead and do it. Now, I can just focus on my grades and playing football. It is like a burden has been lifted."

The 5-11, 220-pound linebacker recorded 108 tackles and 14 sacks for Salem last season. He joins two other linebacker commitments for 2008, Bruce Taylor and Jake Johnson. The Hokies are also still pursuing linebacker recruits Terrell Manning and Allen Stephens. So far, linebacker is the strongest position in Tech's recruiting class.
