PK Cody Journell Commits to VT
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

Virginia Tech added another commitment to the 2009 recruiting class when Giles High School kicker Cody Journell announced his intentions to be a Hokie on Monday. Journell came away with a scholarship offer after his impressive performance at Tech’s camp on Saturday.

Journell was a First Team All-State selection for his performance during the 2007 season. He kicked 10 field goals, with a long of 54 yards.

Like most high school kickers, the main question surrounding Journell was how well he could kick off the ground. At the high school level, field goals are kicked off of a tee. He answered that question on Saturday by booting a 50 yard field goal without the use of a tee.

Journell is the fourth commitment for the 2009 recruiting class. He joins defensive tackle David Wang, as well as cornerbacks Jerrodd Williams and James Hopper.
