Hokies Pick Up Two Basketball Commitments
by Chris Coleman, TechSideline.com

Virginia Tech basketball received good news on Friday when they received commitments from two prospects, one from the class of 2009 and the other from the class of 2010. Cadarian Raines adds a post presence to the 2009 class, while Jarell Eddie is the first 2010 pledge.

Raines is a 6-8, 215-lbs power forward prospect from Petersburg, VA. As a junior at Petersburg High, he averaged 14 points per game, and became known for his defense and rebounding. He was very good at the recent Southern Invitational.

Raines chose the Hokies over Maryland, George Mason and VCU. He joins Ben Boggs, Erick Green and Manny Atkins as members of the 2009 recruiting class.

Jarell Eddie is Tech’s first 2010 commitment. He is a Top 100 recruit who chose the Hokies over offers from Kentucky, Clemson, Georgia, UVA and Wake Forest. As a sophomore at Cannon School in Charlotte, NC, he averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

Eddie is the #99 recruit in the class of 2010 according to Rivals, and his stock could be going up.
