Dinwiddie Tight End Commits to Tech by Will Stewart, TechSideline.com, TSLMail Breaking News, June 21, 2010 Dinwiddie (VA) athlete Chris Hall verballed to Virginia Tech on Monday morning, giving the Hokies their fifth commitment for the 2011 recruiting class. Hall plays quarterback for Dinwiddie High School, but he is projected to play tight end at Virginia Tech. At 6-4, 225, Hall has good size. He impressed the Tech coaching staff with his work ethic in the most recent recruiting camp in Blacksburg, and walked away with a scholarship offer. Hall got a greyshirt offer, which means that he will delay his enrollment until January 2012. "He committed to Virginia Tech. He called Coach Cavanaugh [this morning]," Dinwiddie head coach Billy Mills said. "He told me on Saturday on the way to UVa (for a 7-on-7 tournament) that he was ready to go. Then he got the offer from UVa, so he sat on that a little bit. Today he was ready to commit." As a quarterback last year, Hall threw for over 2,600 yards with 23 touchdowns in 2009. However, he's very raw as a passer, so his best role at Virginia Tech is as a tight end, or possibly even a big wide receiver. He ran a 4.9 40 yard dash in Blacksburg last month. Hall's teammate is defensive lineman Corey Marshall, the #5 player in the state of Virginia. He is planning to make his announcement tomorrow at 5pm on Washington Post Live on Comcast Sportsnet. Virginia Tech has been rumored to be Marshall's favorite since the recruiting process began.
