Football: Some Top Players in Virginia

We were unable to hook up with any recruits this week (we'll keep trying!), so here's a quick look at what others are saying about some of the top football players in the state of Virginia that the Hokies are recruiting (each player's name is a link to their TSL Recruiting Database entry):

Ahmad Brooks (LB, 6-3, 230, 4.4, C.D. Hylton, Woodbridge) -- Brooks is the #3-ranked player in the state, and he's a mystery. SuperPrep has him favoring VT in 9/6 and 10/8 updates, but in 9/18 and 10/2 updates, Mike Farrell quoted Brooks through AERecruiting as saying that he "still" favors Virginia. Brooks lists Florida State in his top three with Tech and UVa.

Kai Parham (LB, 6-3, 230, 4.68, Princess Anne HC, Virginia Beach) -- Parham, the #4-ranked player in the state, continues to favor Virginia, as he has all along, with Florida currently running second. VT is in a list of his top six.

A TSL source indicated recently that the Tech coaching staff perceives both Parham and Brooks to be UVa leans at this point.

Mike Imoh (RB, 5-7, 175, 4.4, Robinson HS, Fairfax) -- Mike is the #11-ranked player in the state by Doug Doughty. Both Alliance Sports and SuperPrep reported recently that Mike favors VT over Georgia Tech.

Stefan Orange ( DB, 6-2, 180, 4.5, Culpeper HS, Culpeper) -- Stefan is the #12-ranked player in the state by Doug Doughty. Both SuperPrep and Alliance Sports have Virginia Tech and Virginia in a dead heat for Stefan. He will visit UVa on 12/7 and VT on 12/14.

Darryl Tapp (DE, 6-2, 225, 4.6, Deep Creek HS, Chesapeake) -- Tapp, the #24-ranked player in the state, loves Virginia Tech and just recently received an offer. He is also being recruited by some other heavyweights, such as Clemson, Virginia, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Syracuse. Although VT is a clear favorite, he wants to wait until Dec./Jan. to decide.

TSL will try to contact Tapp and his teammate, wide receiver Josh Hyman (#20 in the state) for comments in the near future. We're also trying to hook up with Northside's Justin London (#8 in-state) to get his thoughts.
